Rocialle Healthcare: connecting pricing capability with commercial priorities

Rocialle Healthcare was referred to Pricing Insight by the management of Multigate, an existing Pricing Insight client. The engagement combined applied pricing education, analysis of the team’s commercial ideas and an initial review of customer and product pricing opportunities.

Rocialle Healthcare

The healthcare context

Rocialle Healthcare supplies healthcare providers, from hospitals to GP surgeries, with products including custom procedure packs, dressings, gowns, drapes and surgical instruments. Its AcuteCare business also provides capabilities such as cleanroom assembly, contract manufacturing and sterilisation services.

For the pricing program, the commercial question was how to make this wider contribution more explicit. The team needed to look beyond a product’s purchase price and consider the value customers received from the complete offer.

A shared approach to pricing

Rocialle wanted a common language for pricing across its leadership and commercial teams. The aim was to connect pricing knowledge with practical decisions about customer value, product positioning, commercial agreements and margin management.

Pricing Insight delivered the Pricing Fundamentals program through Pricing University, launching in March 2026. The cohort included senior leaders and commercial colleagues, with the chief executive participating alongside the team.

The twelve-lesson program required learners to apply the concepts to Rocialle’s own business. Alongside the learning content, participants submitted ideas for improving pricing and margins, creating a structured source of commercial insights for management.

Turning learner ideas into management priorities

Pricing Insight reviewed the learner responses and consolidated them into a management summary and supporting analysis. This moved the discussion from individual observations to a set of priorities that leadership could assess.

The work covered:

  • Customer value: explaining the benefits of products and services in terms relevant to healthcare customers, rather than relying only on cost or competitor comparisons.
  • Product and customer segmentation: recognising that different applications, alternatives and buying situations require different pricing approaches.
  • Service inclusions: examining how delivery, training, installation and other elements of the offer should be reflected in commercial arrangements.
  • Pricing governance: clarifying responsibilities, approval processes and the information needed to make consistent decisions.
  • Value communication: equipping commercial teams to discuss the wider offer and respond more confidently to procurement-led price discussions.

The emphasis was on practical application. Ideas generated through the program were organised for management review and prioritisation.

Applying the work in leadership discussions

Rocialle’s leadership team used the pricing playbook material in its own working session. Its documented outputs included a price-increase readiness review, product and customer segmentation, and actions to develop the playbook and clarify pricing responsibilities.

Management also nominated a pricing lead for its new Price Governance Team and was developing an outline pricing strategy. Feedback to Pricing Insight highlighted the usefulness of the learner analysis and the positive response to the course.

This was an important part of the engagement’s contribution: pricing became a cross-functional management discussion supported by a common framework and practical working materials. The work connected learning with decisions the business needed to make.

Testing where pricing action was commercially possible

Alongside the capability program, Pricing Insight undertook an initial Project Blackbird analysis of customer and product pricing. The review examined transaction patterns and pricing differences to identify opportunities for further commercial assessment.

A key consideration was addressability: not every product-customer combination could be repriced in the same way. The analysis was refined to distinguish the business-to-business and export opportunities from combinations subject to contracts, frameworks or contract review.

That distinction helped separate statistical opportunity from commercially actionable work. The review gave management a more focused basis for assessing possible next steps.

The contribution

The engagement gave Rocialle a shared pricing language, a structured analysis of staff-generated ideas and practical material for leadership planning. It also provided an initial analytical view of pricing opportunities and the commercial constraints that needed to be considered.

The case demonstrates how a referral from an existing healthcare client can develop into a tailored capability program. Pricing Insight’s role was to connect education, customer value and analytical evidence with Rocialle’s own commercial priorities.
